Mukti Switzerland is a Swiss non-governmental organization that supports educational projects in West Bengal, India. In collaboration with its founding partner Mukti, the organization supports community-led initiatives designed to improve access to education, create safe spaces for children and adolescents, and provide new opportunities for women in the districts of Kolkata and Jhargram.
Our mission is based on three fundamental rights:
– the right to education
– the right to protection
– the right to participation
Our partner Mukti is a non-profit socio-economic development organization that has been operational in India since 2003. Its primary activities are carried out in Kolkata, the Sundarbans (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and other areas of West Bengal.
To date, Mukti has reached over four million individuals, with a significant emphasis on women’s empowerment, reaching approximately 30,000 women through Self-Help Groups and supporting over 10,000 children. The organization promotes holistic and inclusive development across key areas including health, education, livelihoods, agriculture, the environment, and disaster resilience.
Mukti is internationally recognized and trusted, holding consultative status with the UN ECOSOC and being listed on the NSE Social Stock Exchange. It remains fully compliant with international standards and has received multiple national awards for its impact and sustainability.
Mukti founded Mukti Switzerland in March 2026.
